About me

Hi. I’m Stephen Lurie and I love good meetings.

It could be a multi-day strategy retreat, a one-time group workshop, or just an hour spent exploring one person’s thinking: with some craft, meetings are where we maximize our access to our individual and shared knowledge.

I’m a facilitator, organizer, researcher, and writer — and I use all of these approaches in helping people meet to clarify their thinking, make decisions, and establish clear courses of action. I’ve run processes with individuals and with groups up to 20 people across a wide range of sectors, including nonprofit advocacy organizations, political campaign staff, movement groups, and companies.

Here are some examples of what that has looked like:

With movements and advocacy organizations: Facilitate a cross-movement planning process to prepare strategies against election interference.

For senior staff of an electoral campaign: Coordinate a debrief process to capture staff feedback and strategic insights.

With project leadership teams: Plan and execute strategic planning processes, including multi-day retreats, to create new strategies and goals.

At a large criminal justice organization: Facilitate an advisory board of program directors to create an organizational position on policing.

At a technology company: Assess dynamics and decide next steps to integrate racial justice efforts in the workplace.
